Partnership with Vision 2020 - The Right to Sight India
Alakh Nayan Mandir has the pride to be identified as an institutional
partner of Vision 2020- The Right to Sight India programme in Rajasthan,
which is the Indian chapter of the global initiative of blindness
eradication programme under International Agency for Prevention of
Blindness. This programme has a motto of making the country free from the
backlog of curable blindness by the year 2020.
As its initial partner, Alakh Nayan Mandir have had the pride of hosting
the first Regional Workshop of Vision 2020 in association with Govt. of
India in February 2007. The workshop was grand success with a
participation of over 50 delegates from Rajasthan, Goa, Gujarat,
Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. It was held in the majestic Darbar Hall of
The Palace Udaipur and was graced by distinguished guests viz. Shriji
Arvind Singh ji Mewar, Prof. Bruce Spivey, President International Council
of Ophthalmology, Dr. P.N. Nagpal, Dr. A.R. Vasawada, Mr. P.K.M. Swamy,
Dr. Jatin Shah, Mr. Niranjan Pandya alongwith many representatives from
NGOs and State Governments.
Association with Naandi Foundation
Naandi Foundation, an organization working for the cause and care of
Government School children has collaborated with Alakh Nayan Mandir
for the screening of Eye problems and thereafter further intervention at
base hospital. About 38,000 children have been screened in the year
2006-07. Children found to be afflicted with any eye disease are then
provided necessary treatment at Alakh Nayan Mandir.
